Soda, Lemonade and Ice Coffee
There’s nothing better than relaxing by the pool with a cold drink in your hand. However, that glass of soda, lemonade or iced coffee that you’re sipping on is damaging your teeth and gums. Acidic and sugary drinks can wear down your enamel, ultimately causing cavities and other dental issues. Try cooling off this summer with a nice glass of water instead, or other drinks that are low in sugar.
Ice cream and Popsicles
Ice cream and popsicles are the ultimate summer treats. However, they are also filled with lots of sugar and the cold can be painful to those who have sensitive teeth. When choosing frozen desserts at the grocery store, try looking for sugar-free options. Also, please avoid sticky toppings, such as caramel, that can further damage your teeth.
What should you eat this summer?
This summer, try snacking on foods with natural sweetness, such as watermelon and strawberries. You can also enjoy foods that are high in protein, such as cheese and nuts. If you do consume sugary foods such as ice cream, make sure to drink plenty of water to help flush away the sugar that may stick to your teeth.
